Norfolk's Department of Human Services realizes that many residents struggle to access benefits programs, assistance and support services due to a lack of transportation.
To address that need, Norfolk Department of Human Services is bringing that much-needed access right in neighborhoods with the Community Engagement Street Team every week.
Resources include:
- Benefits applications
- Tangible resources (food, water, personal care items, etc.)
- Referrals for service
- Intensive case management assistance
- Support and additional help
Schedule
The Community Engagement Street Team hits the road on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Each week, the team stops at a different, easily accessible location in Norfolk.

- Mary D. Pretlow Anchor Branch Library
- 111 W. Ocean View Ave.
- Second Thursday - Berkley/Southside
- Richard A. Tucker Memorial Library
- 2350 Berkley Ave. Ext.
- Third Thursday - Midtown
- Norview Community Center
- 6380 Sewells Point Rd.
- Fourth Thursday - Downtown
- Park Avenue Shopping Center
- 1024 Park Ave. (across from Booker T. Washington High School)
