What We Do

The Water Distribution Division helps deliver high quality drinking water to our customers across the city and beyond by maintaining the complex system that transports water from our treatment plants to Norfolk homes, businesses and the fire hydrant on your street.

Services Provided

Our crews:

  • Fix line leaks
  • Maintain water meters and fire hydrants
  • Oversee leak detection and cross connection program
  • Repair water main breaks
  • Turn on water service for new customers

We are at your service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call us at 757-823-1000 if you notice:

  • Odors in your water
  • Rusty water
  • Water leaks

How Long Will It Take To Fix The Problem?

We pride ourselves on fast response and repair. Most repairs can be made quickly. However, some problems are more complex and require more time to complete. Specifically, some water repairs require digging up underground pipes or excavating the water line.

In those cases, we must contact Miss Utility and order utility markings to identify any other utility that might be in the area. This process can take anywhere from three to 48 hours and is required by state law in order to protect residents and the repair crew members.
