Room Tax collected starting January 2026: Hotel/Short-term Rental Room Tax Coupon
**City council has passed Ordinance no. 50139 changing the Room tax rate on Short-Term Rentals (Vacation/Homestay).**
Every hotel (public or private), inn hostelry, tourist home or house, motel, rooming house, or other lodging place within the city offering lodging for compensation, to any transient (90 consecutive days or less) must collect a 9% lodging/transient occupancy tax. Those entities collecting the tax must register with the Commissioner of the Revenue, and report and remit the tax on or before the 20th day of the month following the month of collection. In addition there is a $3.00 per night per room tax for hotels and a $3.00 per bedroom per night for Vacation/Homestay Rentals.
