Household Hazardous Waste

Election Day 2021 - On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, SPSA will not be accepting residential Household Hazardous Waste (HHW).

Due to COVID-19: 

  • SPSA has reinstated regular RESIDENTIAL WEEKEND HOURS at the Norfolk Transfer Station. The Norfolk Transfer Station is open for residents Tuesdays and Saturdays from 12:00pm - 4:00pm. Location: SPSA Norfolk Transfer Station, 3136 Woodland Avenue Norfolk, VA 23504. Residents dropping off bulk items are asked to observe social distancing guidelines at the transfer stations.
  • Electronic recycling services has resumed on Wednesdays, from 8 a.m. – noon at the City’s Towing & Recovery (1188 A Lance Road, Norfolk VA 23502).

**Lithium batteries are considered household hazardous waste (HHW) and must to be disposed of at the SPSA Norfolk Transfer Station during the specified residential hours above. Please do not dispose of lithium batteries in trash and recycling bin.
