1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The idea is simple; the rewards are priceless! We're encouraging preschool-age children (0-6 years old) who are not yet enrolled in kindergarten, along with their families and caregivers, to read 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten and become lifelong learners.

Visit The 1000 Books Foundation to learn about this initiative to help establish early literacy skills in preschoolers. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten name and logo are used with permission from the 1000 Books Foundation.

Register Online and receive a goodie bag

Then log the books that you have read. If you prefer to track books read by paper, pick up a form at any open NPL location.

Number 2 - white number orange background

Read + Log 500 Books

Select a beginner reader book to keep. Readers gain badges for every 100 books read and logged. And yes, books can be repeated!

Read + Log 1,000 Books

Get an NPL cup filled with goodies.

Get a Certificate of Completion and Gain Digital Badges

Readers gain digital badges for every 100 books they've read and those who log 1,000 Books will receive a certificate of completion.  Keep going!
