Norfolk Criminal Justice Services (NCJS) is a City of Norfolk community-based corrections agency. NCJS is established under the authority of the Comprehensive Community Corrections Act (CCCA) and the Pretrial Services Act (PSA). The agency consists of dual divisions that provide pre and post-trial community supervision. Pretrial Services and Adult Community Supervision (local probation) represent each division, respectively.

Services

NCJS provides a continuum of services to Norfolk citizens via local community-based local probation or pretrial supervision.

Sworn Pretrial and Local Probation Officers refer clients to counseling and other relevant services and assessments necessary for the facilitation of productive citizenry and recidivism reduction.

Service placements are based on court orders and needs identified by probation officers as necessary for the long term success of our client population. Service placements referrals are conducted on-site. However, rendering of services are conducted off-site by state licensed agencies or qualified individuals. There are special conditions which allow assessments to occur on-site, i.e. mental health crises.
