NORFOLK, VA – Norfolk Parks & Recreation is excited to announce the opening of two playgrounds! Ribbon cutting ceremonies will take place at Tanners Creek Playground on June 9 at 1335 Longdale Drive and Ballentine Park Playground & Fitness Area on June 23 at 2415 Ballentine Boulevard. Remarks will begin at 4:30 p.m. at each location. Neighborhood playgrounds and fitness areas create an active lifestyle for our residents, focused on health, balance, cognitive abilities and having fun.
The new Tanners Creek Playground replaces the existing play area for children ages five to 12. The playground features swings, slides and climbing structures.
The Ballentine Park Playground & Fitness Area is based on input and collaboration with the Department of Parks & Recreation and Norfolk residents. The playground includes swings, slides and climbing structures. The fitness area features accessible equipment for users of all abilities to exercise together.
