[ARCHIVED] City Manager Appoints Human Services Director

City Manager Chip Filer announced today the appointment of Denise Gallop, Director of Human Services. Denise has been serving as Interim Director since 2020.  Under her leadership, Human Services employees have found innovative ways to ensure Norfolk’s most vulnerable residents have access to services during the pandemic.  Her team’s rapid response led to a record number of benefits processed on time.   Denise was instrumental in getting state legislation passed that will help the City better monitor in home day care.  Last year, the Department had the highest number of adoptions in the region.  Denise will continue to find effective ways to support residents with a community-based model so residents will receive support right at their door.
