[ARCHIVED] Virtual Budget Work Session for Proposed Fiscal Year 2021 & Real Estate Reassessment Public Hearing

NORFOLK, VA – Norfolk’s City Council will hold a FY 2021 Proposed Budget work session on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at 4 p.m., Norfolk City Hall Building, 10th Floor Large Conference Room.  A Real Estate Reassessment Public Hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m., followed by the City Council Formal Session at 7 p.m., in the 11th Floor Council Chamber. 

To comply with state and federal recommendations to slow the spread of COVID-19, occupancy in the Council Chamber within City Hall will be limited.  However, City Council members and city staff want to ensure that all Norfolk residents can participate in the public hearing and formal Council meeting. 

Public access to listen to or observe the work session, public hearing, and formal session in real-time without attending the meeting in person will be available through these platforms:

The formal meeting will not include a “new business” session.   

The City Clerk will be responsible for receiving comments from the public before the meeting. Anyone who wishes to submit a comment and not attend the meeting in person may participate by videoconference, phone or email by following these steps prior to the meeting:

  1. Email ccouncil@norfolk.gov or call 757-664-4253 and leave a name and phone number.  A staff member will call back.
  1. For email comments: provide name, agenda item and comment. The Clerk will note your email and agenda item for the formal record.
  1. To participate  by phone:  email ccouncil@norfolk.gov or call 757-664-4253 and provide name, agenda item and phone number.  A member of the Clerk’s staff will call when Council is ready for your comment.  The speaker will have up to 3 minutes to address Council telephonically.
  1. To participate by videoconference: either email ccouncil@norfolk.gov or call 757-664-4253 and provide name, agenda item and phone number, prior to the meeting. A member of the Clerk’s staff will unmute you when Council is ready for your comment.

 

       Note: Persons needing special assistance, such as a handheld microphone or ASL interpreter, or any other accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act are asked to call the City Clerk’s Office at 664-4253 at least three days before the meeting.
