[ARCHIVED] City Council Places Restrictions at March 24 to Support Social Distancing

NORFOLK, VA – Norfolk City Council has made changes to its upcoming March 24 meeting to reduce potential exposure to the coronavirus.   The 4:30 p.m. Informal meeting is canceled.  The Formal meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber located on the 11th floor of City Hall. 

Comments will be limited to agenda items only.  Anyone who wishes to submit a comment and not attend the meeting may email their comments to the City Clerk at ccouncil@norfolk.gov .  The Clerk will read all emailed comments into the formal record at the meeting. 

The Formal meeting will not include a “new business” agenda.

In order to comply with state and federal recommendations, occupancy in the Council Chamber will be limited.

Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander declared a local state of Emergency on March 13, 2020 and restrictions have been put into place to reduce exposure to the Coronavirus/COVID-19.  City leadership will continue to actively monitor COVID-19 and assess city operations based on new developments.  For more information, citizens are encouraged to monitor www.norfolk.gov.
