[ARCHIVED] City of Norfolk Offices Closed for Election Day

NORFOLK, Va. – The City of Norfolk’s offices, including libraries, The Slover, recreation centers, Norfolk Animal Care Center, Commissioner of the Revenue, City Treasurer and the Norfolk Courthouse will close on Tuesday, Nov. 4, for Election Day. Offices will reopen at regular business hours on Wednesday, Nov. 5. 

Trash, recycling and bulk waste collection will take place as scheduled. Bulk item pickup requests for Tuesday, Nov. 4, and Wednesday, Nov. 5, must be scheduled by 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3. Use the MyNorfolk mobile app, online portal or call Norfolk Cares at (757) 664-6510 to request a bulk waste collection. 

The SPSA Norfolk Transfer Station (3136 Woodland Ave.) will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Nov. 4. 

Street sweeping for Tuesday, Nov. 4, will take place as scheduled, except for the streets directly adjacent to Academy for Discovery at Lakewood (Lafayette-Winona Precinct) and Willard Model School (Lakewood Precinct), which will be swept on Monday, Nov. 10. Please be sure to move your vehicle(s) from the right-of-way so sweepers can get all the way to the curbline.
