NORFOLK, VA – The Norfolk Employees’ Retirement System (NERS) and the Department of Finance have been honored by the Government Finance Officers Association for their FY 2023 annual financial report.
NERS received the prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its FY 2023 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, marking the 19th consecutive year it has earned this achievement.
The award acknowledges state and local governments that go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles by preparing annual comprehensive financial reports that embody transparency and full disclosure.
The continued recognition of this achievement reflects the high standards that NERS holds for its financial reporting and represents a significant accomplishment by the City of Norfolk and its management. NERS members can trust that their retirement fund is managed transparently and with standards that exceed national guidelines.
