NORFOLK, Va. – The City of Norfolk’s government offices, including libraries, The Slover and recreation centers, will close on May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. The closures include the Norfolk Courthouse, Offices of the Commissioner of the Revenue and City Treasurer and Norfolk Animal Care Center.
Requests for bulk waste collection on May 28 must be made before 3 p.m. on May 24. To schedule bulk waste collection, please use the MyNorfolk mobile app, MyNorfolk online portal or call Norfolk Cares at (757) 664-6510.
The SPSA Norfolk Transfer Station will be open on May 27 from 8 a.m. to noon to receive waste.
Norfolk beach lifeguards begin duty at Community Beach Park on May 25. Guards will be stationed at Community Beach Park from noon to 6 p.m. through Labor Day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Sarah Constant Beach Park and Ocean View Beach Park will not have beach lifeguards on duty. Patrons swim at their own risk.
