The New Republic’s (TNR) Banned Books Tour will visit Mary D. Pretlow Anchor Branch Library on Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
NORFOLK, VA – The New Republic’s (TNR) Banned Books Tour will visit Mary D. Pretlow Anchor Branch Library on Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. TNR is sending its bookmobile to distribute free children’s books and literature about fighting book banning and celebrating the freedom to read. Banned books for youth and adults will be available upon request.
The Banned Books Tour is an initiative to combat censorship and celebrate the First Amendment, with the tour visiting states that have witnessed the highest incidents of banned books, including Texas, Florida, Missouri, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. This tour partners with the American Federation of Teachers, the African American Policy Forum, House of SpeakEasy, Bookshop.org, Banned Books Week Coalition, and the Urban Libraries Council to commemorate Banned Books Week which takes place each October.
