Norfolk City Treasurer and Commissioner of Revenue Collaborate to Allow Additional Time to Prepare
NORFOLK, VA – The Norfolk City Treasurer and the Commissioner of the Revenue would like to announce that the 2019 personal property tax bills have been mailed. The due date for personal property taxes is June 5, 2019. Annually, any vehicles that are owned and that are housed/located in the City of Norfolk are assessed by the Commissioner of the Revenue. Then, the City Treasurer issues the bills and collects the taxes owed.
Collaborating, the two offices have achieved this mailing two weeks earlier than normal to provide the taxpayer with additional time to prepare for and make their payments.
Taxpayers have several payment options:
(1) Pay the entire tax amount due (without penalty) on or before June 5, 2019.
(2) Make partial payments prior to June 5, 2019, spreading the entire amount due over several weeks.
Payments made by personal check, cashier’s check or money order should include the appropriate account number in the memo section.
Please note that partial payments are not accepted on line. Payment in full, however, is accepted on line at
www.norfolk.gov/treasurer (bottom left hand column --> eServices Portal).
If you have any questions, please contact the Norfolk City Treasurer at 757.664.7800.
