NFK2050 Adopted by Norfolk City Council

• NFK2050, the City's new Comprehensive Plan, was adopted by City Council on December 9, 2025.  Stay tuned for implementation progress, which will be posted on the Measuring Success page.

NFK2050 Wins Statewide Award for Innovation in Planning

The Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association has awarded the City of Norfolk’s NFK2050 Comprehensive Plan the 2025 Old Dominion Award for Innovative Approaches. The award recognizes pioneering planning efforts across the Commonwealth.

Virginia has many unique challenges, where innovative planning solutions are critical for making great places happen. The Innovative Approaches Award recognizes pioneering planning efforts in the Commonwealth. Nominees may include innovative planning processes, plans, programs, initiatives, or site developments that have or will result in real results.
