Data science is the use intelligent algorithms and complex models to analyze data for better decision-making. It helps predict trends, optimize resources, and improve services like crime prevention, public transport, and emergency response. By leveraging these insights, the City of Norfolk can enhance efficiency and make data-driven decisions that directly benefit our communities.
Improving efficiency and transparency by making city datasets available to the public via our online open data portal. On NorfolkOpenData you can read data stories, view dashboards and query data from over 80 diverse datasets.
CivicLab works to collaborate on projects with departments across the city by putting their data to work. By collaborating the city is able to mobilize its data and make it both accessible and actionable for residents and employees
Using Power BI allows CivicLab to visualize data and create impactful dashboards that reveal what might not have been visible on the surface of data.
