Annual Volunteer Opportunities
The Great American Cleanup, March 1st - May 31st
The Great American Cleanup is a three-month outreach program aiming to raise awareness of environmental issues across the country through community service events. During this period, Keep Norfolk Beautiful, along with all Keep America Beautiful affiliates, will host events designed to create LITTER FREE cities, neighborhoods, and streets! In addition, you can host your own cleanup event with the support of Keep Norfolk Beautiful.

Special Waste Collection Event - August 13th, 2022
This drive-thru, drop-off Special Waste Collection Event is free and open to Norfolk residents. Bring household hazardous waste, textiles, electronics, and plastic grocery bags and packaging wrap for free, and safe, disposal.
- Location: Lakewood Park
- Open to Norfolk residents 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Clean The Bay Day - June 4th, 2022
In partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, volunteer leaders host cleanups throughout Norfolk. The goal: Clean the Chesapeake Bay Watershed! To register for 2022's Clean the Bay Day, visit cbf.org/clean.

The International Coastal Cleanup - September 2022 through October 2022
Keep Norfolk Beautiful and volunteer site leaders host cleanups throughout the city during this two-month event. But, this isn’t your average cleanup. Volunteers will use tracking sheets to record the types and amount of litter found. Volunteer leaders will be needed to host a cleanup at one of the 11 sites that are cleaned every year.

Jam’n Jamz - January 2023
Every year Friends of Norfolk’s Environment, with Keep Norfolk Beautiful, Environmental Storm Water Management, and Parks and Recreation, distributes free fruit and nut trees. This free event for Norfolk residents helps to increase the City's tree canopy and enhance the quality of our local community and environment!
