Norfolk's lakes are stocked by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources. Lakes Prince and Western Branch are stocked annually with Striped Bass (Chesapeake Bay strain). No fish are stocked in Burnt Mills. The Intown Lakes were previously stocked with Walleye (non-native to this area) to provide this highly prized sport fish to anglers and to help control the abundant forage fish populations in the lakes. Native or naturalized fishes (largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie) are not stocked since they can reproduce successfully.
