NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Newport News police have arrested a woman who was wanted in connection with fatal shooting that occurred in Norfolk last month.
Around 5:22 p.m., on October 30th, officers were in the area of E Olney Road when they heard multiple gunshots. Soon after, the officers found a man later identified as John L. Howard Sr., 56, of Norfolk, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Howard was taken to the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
As a result of this investigation, detectives charged Alicia D. Carney, 43, with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and felonious assault/malicious wounding.
Carney was taken into custody during a traffic stop in the City of Newport News on November 9th by Newport News police, and is currently being held in the Newport News City Jail with no bond.
