NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) –Norfolk Police have charged a man in connection with a deadly shooting in Ocean View.
On August 14th, around 6:20 p.m. police were called to Community Beach Park located at 700 E. Ocean View Avenue, for the report of a shooting. Shortly after arriving, Officers were notified by dispatch that a man had arrived at a local hospital suffering a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Detectives determined the two incidents were related.
The man, identified as Andrew F. Saafi, 20, of Norfolk, was pronounced deceased at the hospital from his injuries.
Following their investigation, detectives charged Zion K. Holmes, 20, of Virginia Beach, with second-degree murder, use of a firearm, and robbery.
Holmes was taken into custody by police on January 10th in the 1600 block of Brambleton Avenue.
He is currently being held without bond in the Norfolk City Jail.
