NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) –Detectives have charged a 16-year-old male following a shooting that left a 15-year-old male dead last year.
On October 19, 2023, around 3:30 p.m., police were called to the 1700 block of Vernon Drive for the report of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived, they found a 15-year-old male suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.
The 15-year-old was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased from his injuries.
As a result of their investigation, Homicide detectives have charged a 16-year-old male with second-degree murder, and use of a firearm.
The 16-year-old was taken into police custody in the State of California on October 28, 2024, and extradited back to Virginia on November 22, 2024.
He is currently being held in Norfolk Detention Center.
Detectives have not released a motive, or any other circumstances related to this incident.
