Chrystal Luc (NPL)
"Chrystal and I both work at Little Creek Branch Library. I can honestly say, without a doubt, the library would not function without Chrystal. As a library assistant, she has been an invaluable member to our team since she started last year. She shows up everyday with a bright attitude and a willingness to help our patrons, young, old, and anywhere in between. She's kind and bright and works diligently to provide the best service for all people in the library. Chrystal brings her passion and good attitude to all aspects of life, outside of work too! She is a hardworking and dedicated mother, a loyal friend, and simply a great coworker!"
Jennifer Lewis (HR)
"She is responsible for process extended leave request. Last year, I needed to take unexpected medical leave. She was caring and thoughtful throughout the entire process. It matters because we are all humans, who deserve to be treated with care during vulnerable times."
Yaimelee Ponce (Finance)
"I would like to highlight Yaimelee Ponce in Finance. I watched her excel from a Collection Coordinator to the Customer Service Manager. She is a dynamite employee, punctual, bilingual and she excels at everything that she does! In addition, she handles challenging tasks with a smile. I feel that she should be recognized for the amazing job that she does!!!
She works in the collections department within Finance. As a Collections Coordinator, she communicated with the citizens with respect and dignity. She established payment plans and acted as a liaison between the vendors and citizens. Her work ethic was important, because she treated the citizens with respect during a very challenging time in their life. A lot of citizens lack the financial resources to handle their affairs and there were times when she had to verify their insurance coverage. While acting as a Collections Coordinator, I considered her as the backup supervisor. She was more than capable to handle situations/concerns. As a fellow staff member, she was my “go to”.
Her current position, as a Customer Service Manager, is no surprise to me! She was already working in that capacity. If there was a shortage of tasks, she looked for something to do. She holds staff meetings, delegates tasks, and handles other tasks to alleviate duties from her superiors.
Mrs. Ponce is an asset for the City of Norfolk and she deserves to be recognized."
