NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives have charged a 21-year-old man in connection with a shooting that left a 3-year-old injured on Monday evening.
On October 9, 2023, around 7:50 p.m. police responded to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters located at 601 Children’s Lane for the report of a gunshot victim. When Officers, arrived, they found a 3-year-old male child suffering from a minor laceration near the eye.
The preliminary investigation determined that the 3-year-old had not been injured by a bullet, but rather the injury had occurred from the gun as it was being discharged. The child was treated for his non-life-threatening injuries at the hospital and is expected to recover.
The incident occurred at a home located in the 6600 block of Jefferson Court around 6:30 p.m.
As a result of their investigation, Detectives charged Daylon D. Jackson, 21, with cruelty to children, and he is currently being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.
Jackson is also facing other unrelated charges.
Detectives have not released any further details about this incident.
