NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police have arrested a man responsible for breaking into cars on Monday afternoon.
On July 25, 2022, around 1:00 p.m. an Officer noticed a suspicious car near the intersection of E 23rd Street and Fawn Street. While the officer was approaching, the car sped off and crashed nearby. After a foot pursuit, the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody.
The preliminary investigation determined the driver of the car had been breaking into vehicles in the area. The car he was driving was found to be stolen.
As a result of their investigation, Detectives charged Demontai M. Cuffee, 18, of Norfolk. Cuffee with possession of a stolen auto, and two counts of larceny from auto. Additional charges may be forthcoming. He is currently being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.
No injuries were reported during this incident.
