[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police need help identifying man involved in fatal hit & run

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police are asking for the public’s assistance with identifying a man involved in a fatal hit and run Friday evening.

On June 24th, around 8:23 p.m., Norfolk Police responded to the 2400 block of Tidewater Drive for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. When first responders arrived on-scene, they found 36-year-old Karl H. Wilkerson suffering from serious injuries. Wilkerson was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that Wilkerson was walking on the sidewalk when a black sports car left the roadway striking a tree and Wilkerson. After the crash, the suspect fled the scene with the assistance of another motorist.

If you recognize this man or know anything about this crash, call the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or submit a tip using the P3Tips mobile app.
