[ARCHIVED] Man arrested following barricade situation on Chesapeake Blvd.

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A man was taken into custody following an hours long barricade situation on Chesapeake Blvd.

On June 2, 2022, around 9:10 a.m. Norfolk police were dispatched to a person with a weapon in the 3500 block of Chesapeake Blvd. When officers arrived, they were advised by Norfolk Sheriff’s Deputies that a man brandished a firearm at them during an eviction notice. The man then barricaded himself inside of a residence. 

The Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team, Special Operations Team, Norfolk Fire Marshal's, and Bomb Squad responded to the location, and as a result the suspect, 47-year-old Bishop J. Jackson was taken into custody without incident around 3:45 p.m. No injuries were reported. 

Jackson was charged with brandishing a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
