NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police are continuing to investigate a shooting on Berkley Avenue Ext. that has left a 22-year-old man dead.
Around 10:45 p.m. on June 23, 2021, police responded to the 1500 block of Berkley Avenue Ext. for the report of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived on scene, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. A man was found suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, and a woman was suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The man, Jaivon R. Brittingham, 22, of Norfolk, was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The woman was also transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment and is expected to be okay.
Detectives have not released a motive or any suspect information surrounding this incident.
