[ARCHIVED] Bicyclist in critical condition following Friday morning crash on Hampton Boulevard

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Police are continuing to investigate the crash that left a man in critical condition.

Police were dispatched around 4:40 a.m. on June 11, 2021 for the report of an accident in the 2700 block of Hampton Boulevard.  When officers arrived, they found found a bicyclist suffering from serious injuries. The 73-year-old man was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment.  

The preliminary investigation has revealed the driver of a Ford sedan was driving south on Hampton Boulevard when the bicyclists entered the street and was hit by the sedan.

Investigators do not believe speed or alcohol to have been contributing factors.

The investigation is being handled by the Norfolk Police Departments Traffic Unit.
