[ARCHIVED] Woman arrested, 2 women killed, 1 other injured following car accident on Granby Street

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Two women have died following a vehicle crash that occurred over the weekend on Granby Street.

Around 1:50 a.m. on May 2, 2021 Norfolk Police responded for the report of a single vehicle accident in the 4200 block of Granby Street, near Llewellyn Avenue. 

The preliminary investigation revealed the car was heading southbound on Granby Street when the driver hit a pole.

Two passengers were transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where they were both later pronounced deceased as a result of their injuries. 

The two women have been identified as,19-year-old Sateya N. Baker and 25-year-old Jendaya C. Hunter, both of Suffolk. 

A third passenger, a 20-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to be okay. 

The driver, Tahlia C. Ricks, 21, of Norfolk, also received non-life-threatening injuries. Ricks was arrested at the scene and charged with Driving Under the Influence. 

Investigators believe both speed and alcohol to be factors in the crash.
