[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police responds to violence against the Asian-American and Pacific Islander Community

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) - The Norfolk Police Department is reaching out to members of the Asian-American and the Pacific Islander communities following the deaths of seven woman and one man in Georgia this week.

Since 2013, the City of Norfolk has not had any reported hate crimes against Asian-Americans. Norfolk Police works closely with our law-enforcement partners to bring justice to all those who are victims of hate crimes.

“I want the residents and visitors of Norfolk to be reassured that the women and men of the Norfolk Police Department are here for you regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, and religion” said Chief Larry D. Boone.

The Norfolk Police Department works hard to ensure our communities are safe, and inclusive for all and encourages everyone to immediately report all suspicious activities and criminal behavior.
