[ARCHIVED] Man arrested for homicide on Wide Street

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) - A man has been arrested for a shooting that left one-person dead. 

On Tuesday, February 2nd around 11:00 a.m., 23-year-old Tracy E. Bellamy was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 800 block of Wide Street. Bellamy was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

As a result of the investigation, Dequan T. Copeland, 28, was charged with 2nd degree murder and use of a firearm. On March 2, 2021, Copeland was arrested in Maricopa County, Arizona with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service. 

Detectives have not released the motive or circumstances surrounding this homicide.

Copeland is currently being held in Arizona pending extradition to Norfolk.
