[ARCHIVED] Man arrested in Poplar Avenue homicide

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) - A Norfolk man has been arrested for a shooting that left a man dead Saturday morning. 

Around 5:09 a.m. on January 9, 2021, 43-year-old Alfred M. Robinson was found inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound in the 200 block of Poplar Avenue. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, Elkay A. Payne, 43 was arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder and use of a firearm.

Detectives have not released the motive or circumstances surrounding this homicide.

Payne is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.
