[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police identify man killed in hit-and-run crash on E. Virginia Beach Boulevard

Norfolk, Va. (NPD) - Detectives have identified the Norfolk man who died earlier this month in an accident as 53-year-old James E. Davenport Jr.

On December 17, 2020 around 9:40 p.m., officers responded to the 5600 block of E. Virginia Beach Boulevard, at the intersection E. Virginia Beach Boulevard and Briar Hill Road, for the report of a man who had been hit by a vehicle. The preliminary investigation revealed that the man was operating a moped scooter when he was hit by a vehicle. The suspect fled the scene.

Davenport Jr. was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
