[ARCHIVED] Medical Examiner rules undetermined death as a homicide

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Norfolk has ruled the death of an infant as a homicide after an autopsy was conducted.

On December 19, 2019 around 2:45 p.m., Detectives responded to Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters to investigate injuries found on a 9-month-old. On December 30, 2019, the infant died as a result of the injuries.

The infant’s death was initially investigated as undetermined until the Medical Examiner ruled the death as a homicide.

As a result, a 13-year-old relative has been charged by police with 2nd Degree Murder.

The juvenile is being held at the Norfolk Detention Home.

Detectives have not released any other details surrounding this investigation.
