NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Police are investigating a homicide after a 23-year-old woman died at the hospital following a shooting Saturday night.
Around 10:15 p.m., dispatchers received a call for a gunshot victim in the 9500 block of 17th Bay Street. When officers arrived, they found Denell N. Brooks of Chesapeake suffering from gunshot wounds.
Brooks was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she died from her injuries.
As a result of the investigation, 22-year-old India R. Lowe of Canton, Michigan has been arrested and charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm.
Lowe is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
