[ARCHIVED] Man dies following a vehicle crash on Chesapeake Blvd Sunday afternoon

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Around 4:30 p.m. police responded to a crash in the 6400 block of Chesapeake Boulevard for a motor vehicle accident.

When officers arrived, they located three individuals who were suffering from injuries sustained during the crash. Both drivers and one passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment; however, the passenger 59-year-old, Lester V. Toliver of Norfolk, died shortly after his arrival. The driver of Mr. Toliver is currently in critical condition.

The other driver sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The preliminary information determined the sedan occupied by Mr. Toliver was crossing over Chesapeake Boulevard to continue on Middleton Place when it was struck by an SUV traveling southbound on Chesapeake Boulevard.

Investigators say that alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor.
