[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian suffers serious injuries in a crash in downtown Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A 69-year-old man suffered serious injuries late Monday night when he tried to cross St Paul’s Boulevard and was struck by a pick-up truck.

The Portsmouth man was hit around 12:30 a.m. by a 74-year-old man who was driving a 2008 Ford F150 southbound on St Paul’s Boulevard at the intersection of East Brambleton Avenue.

The investigation has revealed that the pedestrian attempted to cross St Paul’s Boulevard, not in a crosswalk, and was struck by the vehicle which had the green light.

The pedestrian was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The southbound lanes of St Paul’s Boulevard at E. Brambleton Avenue were closed for several hours while police investigated this crash.

Alcohol and speed were not contributing factors to the crash.

There were no other injuries reported.

As police continue to investigate this crash, they ask anyone with information to call the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or submit a tip through the P3 Tips app.
