[ARCHIVED] Suspect in custody following a homicide investigation overnight

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives have a suspect in custody after finding a woman dead inside a residence overnight.

Around midnight, police were called to the 200 block of West 26th Street for a suspicious situation. When police arrived, they located an unresponsive woman inside a residence. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene, and detectives have classified her death as a homicide.

The woman’s name will be released once her family has been notified.

A man was taken into custody at the scene. Once formal charges are secured, his name and charges will be released.

Detectives have not released the motive or circumstances surrounding this incident.
