[ARCHIVED] Afternoon shooting in Norfolk sends elementary school on lockdown

A shooting in Norfolk this afternoon near an elementary school sends one man to the hospital with life threatening injuries, and a school on lockdown.

Shortly before 11:30 am, police responded to the 2600 block of Middle Avenue for a report of 54-year-old man who had been shot outside of a residence.

The man was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Lindenwood Elementary School was placed on a precautionary lockdown for thirty minutes while police investigated.
