[ARCHIVED] Police detain several people in connection with a stolen auto

The driver of the car has been charged with one count each of Attempted Malicious Wounding and Grand Larceny. All occupants in the car, including the driver were juveniles.

No further details will be released in regards to the juveniles.

Police are investigating one residence that was struck by gunfire. There have been no reports of any cars, or other residences that were struck.

Norfolk Detectives are actively investigating this incident.

Shortly before 11:00 pm last night, patrol officers observed a suspicious vehicle occupied by several people in the 500 block of E. Little Creek Road. The vehicle was determined to be stolen and the officers attempted to stop the vehicle in the 7800 block of Dallas Street.

The vehicle stopped briefly at which time the officers approached the vehicle. As the officers approached, the driver accelerated towards one of the two officers involved in the stop. Both officers fired their service weapons during the incident.

The vehicle continued to accelerate from the scene for a short distance, before all the occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot. At this time all known occupants of the vehicle have been apprehended and were transported to the Police Operations Center for questioning.

No officers or suspects were injured during this incident which is still under investigation.
