Update 11/25/2014: As a result of the fatal motor vehicle accident last night, police have charged the driver, 57-year-old Curtis L. Lindsey of the 800 block of West 38th street, with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, First Offense. The 45-year-old pedestrian’s identity will not be released until proper next of kin notification. Once the investigation is completed, the case will be turned over to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review and determination of any additional charges.
Previous Release:Shortly before 10:00 this evening, Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Norview Avenue and Hyde Circle. Preliminary investigation reveals that a 45-year-old man was struck by a vehicle at the intersection, and was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver, a 57 year-old man, stayed at the scene of the accident. Alcohol seems to be a factor of the crash. At this time, the Fatality team is handling the investigation, which is ongoing.
