[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian Struck by Motorcycle in Ocean View

On September 16, 2014 at 12:30 p.m., Norfolk Emergency Communications Center received a call regarding a possible motor vehicle accident in the 1100 block of E. Ocean View Avenue. Norfolk Police and Fire Rescue responded to the scene and discovered an adult male pedestrian lying in the roadway. The pedestrian was transported by NFR to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and his injuries are considered serious, but non-life threatening. Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian had attempted to walk across the roadway, when a motorcyclist traveling westbound on E. Ocean View Avenue struck the pedestrian. The adult male motorcyclist was also transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to be evaluated for non-life threatening injuries sustained from the accident. All westbound lanes of E. Ocean View Avenue were temporarily closed while the scene was processed, and are now reopen for regular traffic.

***Update***
The pedestrian will be charged with "drunk in public" and "pedestrian in the roadway." The motorcyclist will not incur any traffic violations.
