Two Norfolk Police Officers were responding to a robbery alarm in the 800 block of E. Little Creek Road shortly after 2:00 p.m. on August 30, 2014. The marked police vehicle was traveling westbound on E. Little Creek Road and was attempting to cross Chesapeake Boulevard with lights and sirens activated. At this same time, a gold Cadillac sedan was traveling southbound on Chesapeake Boulevard, failed to yield for the emergency vehicle, and struck the police unit as both cars entered the intersection. The force of the impact pushed the police vehicle into a maroon Infiniti sedan and a black Ford truck. Three occupants in the maroon Infiniti were transported with minor injuries to Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital and both officers in the marked police unit were transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The officers' injuries are considered non-life threatening. Thankfully, the occupants in the other vehicles were uninjured. Charges are currently pending against the driver of the gold Cadillac sedan.
