NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – A 27-year-old man has been charged with a firearms violation in connection to an ongoing double homicide investigation.
On February 26th, around 9:40 p.m. Norfolk Police and Old Dominion University Police were called to the 1400 block of W 49th Street for the report of a gunshot victim. When police arrived, Delanio M. Vick Jr., 18, of Norfolk, and Timothy G. Williams Jr. 20, of Norfolk, were found suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Both Vick Jr., and Williams Jr., were taken to the hospital where they later died from their injuries.
The preliminary investigation determined that the shooting occurred in a parking lot near the Broderick Dining Commons between parties who are not affiliated with the University.
During the course of this investigation, detectives charged, Dequan J. Tyler, 27, of Norfolk, with possession of a firearm by felon.
Tyler was taken into custody by Chesapeake Police on March 11th and is currently being held without bond in Chesapeake City Jail.
Tyler is also facing additional unrelated charges from Chesapeake Police.
Detectives have not released any additional details surrounding this investigation.
