[ARCHIVED] Virginia State Police investigating officer involved shooting on Bagnall Road

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations has been asked to investigate a shooting involving Norfolk Police Officers.

Just before 8:20 p.m. on May 24, 2024, officers saw a man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant in the 900 block of Bagnall Road. When the Officers went to speak to the man, he ran, and a foot pursuit ensued.

During the foot pursuit, the man fired a weapon, and Officers discharged their service weapons.  

The man was shot more than once and was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

An officer also sustained a non-life-threatening injury that was not a result of gunfire.

This remains an active investigation and anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations, or to submit a tip through the  P3Tips mobile application.

The Officers involved will remain on administrative duty pending the outcome of this investigation.
