Dangerous heat levels are expected for today, Friday and Saturday. The City of Norfolk has extended hours for several Parks and Recreation centers and Norfolk Public Library locations to help residents and community members stay safe and stay cool:
Parks and Recreation Centers:
- East Oceanview Recreation Center (9520 20th Bay Street) Open Fri. at 12:30 PM, Sat. at 11:00 AM
- Berkley Recreation Center (121 W Liberty Street) Open Fri. at 12:30 PM, Sat. 11:00 AM
- Norview Community Center (6380 Sewells Point Road) Open Fri. at 10:00 AM, Sat. at 11:30 AM
Norfolk Public Library locations:
- Slover Library: 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. (Friday and Saturday)
- Neighborhood Libraries: Barron F. Black, Blyden, Janaf, Lafayette, Larchmont, Little Creek, Park Place and Van Wyck open Friday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Anchor Branches: Mary D. Pretlow Anchor Branch, Jordan-Newby Anchor Branch at Broadcreek and Richard A. Tucker Memorial Branch Libraries open from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.(Saturday)
All locations are open until 8:00 PM Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
