[ARCHIVED] Man arrested for 2019 homicide on West Balview Avenue

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) - A Norfolk man has been arrested for a 2019 shooting that left one-person dead on W. Balview Avenue. 

On May 21st around 11:15 p.m., 51-year-old Brian P. Austin was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 200 block of West Balview Avenue. Austin was pronounced deceased on-scene.

As a result of the investigation, Tyron A. Whitaker, 18, was indicted by a grand jury and arrested for 2nd degree murder and use of a firearm.

Detectives have not released the motive or circumstances surrounding this homicide.

Whitaker is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.
