[ARCHIVED] Industrial accident investigation underway after man struck by train

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a pedestrian  struck by a train early Sunday evening.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., Norfolk police and fire-rescue were called to the 1100 block of Goff Street for a pedestrian that was struck by an oncoming train.  Norfolk Fire-Rescue transported an adult male pedestrian from the scene to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.  The man is currently listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.  No other injuries were reported during the incident.

Norfolk police have currently classified this case as an industrial accident and are in the preliminary stages of the investigation.
