NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives have identified the man found fatally shot on New Year’s Day as 33-year-old Derek Andre Edwards.
New Year’s Day Homicide
Edwards, of the 400 block of Nicholson Street, was found sitting inside a vehicle in the 800 block of West 35th Street after police responded to a gunshot disturbance call around 40 minutes after midnight on New Year’s Day. Edwards was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Medics transported Edwards to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he died a short time later.
Detectives have not release a motive or suspect description for this case; however, they ask anyone with information to call the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
